Beauty for beauty’s sake
Our Purpose
Classical schools depend not only on an elevating and rich curriculum, but a shared culture that sustains it. That is what Kalos Classical is for - to promote a culture in classical schools that prioritizes the curriculum, emphasizes its beauty, and builds capacity for honorable independence.
This American Heroes series revives for your family a short list of heroes to learn about, to be grateful for, and to emulate, so far as you are able. We hope that you have a chance to read and discuss these heroes together, and that you use the Character Questions to help your children be more thoughtful about virtue generally and their own character and purposes.
AMERICAN HEROES
The Path to Character
Character is who we are, which means it is very much about what choices we make. For our children and students, this means that we don’t teach them virtue, but we can teach about virtue and we can incline them toward seeing the world as shaped by it. They can then find their place in that world, and take up the charge of making it and themselves better. The goal of this program of self-reflection and imaginative work is to encourage children to feel that they make moral choices and actions, and to see the world as if it is a place where everyone makes moral choices and actions. And, beyond this, we hope that children develop the habit of seeing themselves and world in this way.
Common Sense Classical
Common Sense Classical was created to educate, entertain, and support families who are either new to the classical world looking to learn more or experienced classical enthusiasts hoping to support their students and further their own knowledge.
